This is the smile we will always remember. A smile that came from a genuine warmth and friendship for everyone he met. He will be missed by many friends and clients who had the honor of knowing him.
For those who do not know what has happened, our co-worker and friend Kent Harris suffered a major Aorta and Heart failure at home on Tuesday July 6th 2010. Kent underwent a 6 hour surgery at French Hospital to repair the damage and was seeming to show great improvement. He was taken off the pain meds and was taking a few visitors in ICU for the 2 weeks leading up to August 9th. I wished that all had turned out well. In retrospect, those 2 weeks were God's gift to his family and friends. A chance to say good bye, a gift most do not get in these cases.
Monday, August 9th

I was able to spend some time with Kent Sunday evening, August 8th. It was so nice to see Kaili getting to spend some time with Dad. We talked shop and shared stories of the wild things we have found under houses and the tight spaces we have been in. Kent was to head out to Cottage Hospital in the morning. I was shocked to find out early on Monday that Kent had passed away and that we would not see him again.

I still do not understand what happened. We have lost a wonderful man with a beautiful heart. This is the last picture Karlina sent me and his smile is something I will always remember. Karlina wanted me to thank everyone for their love and support. And from me, a big thank you as well for all who have prayed, called, sent cards and made donations. Kent was shocked that he had made such an impact (I am not suprised at all). I am going to miss you my friend.
Bills are still coming in and your help is much appreciated. I still ask that you pray for Karlina and her daughters. If you have not had the opportunity to help out this family, please donate if you are able.

Thank you,

Mark Maxwell

Spider-Goat!

Recent genetic engineering has injected spider DNA into goats. Spider silk proteins are then extracted from the goat milk to produce "Bio-Steel" silk fiber that is 5 to 6 times stronger than steel. This fiber is initially planned to be used in medical and military applications but will eventually find a wide range of uses.
